Job Description: Position Overview: 

The state-of-the-art Oncology Rapid Assessment Center (ORAC) in Palo Alto, part of the renowned Stanford Cancer Center, features a dedicated Infusion Treatment Area that serves outpatients with oncologic and hematologic diagnoses.

The RN First Assistant must adhere to standardized procedures and not concurrently function as a scrub nurse.

Recognizes and considers age-specific needs of patients.

Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.

Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician, and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary.

Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed.

Facilitates collaboration between providers and coordination of community resources.

Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory and clinical policies and procedures.

Participates in quality improvement initiatives.

Provides and coordinates patient teaching and counseling.

Other duties as assigned.

Education Qualifications: Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. Note: NPs hired prior to March 1, 2012 are not subject to this educational requirement. Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements: Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license Board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC Minimum of one year of experience in a primary care or hematology/oncology care environment care environment.

Our APP is expected to be an active member of the Division and participate in clinical, research and education services provided by Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center (BMDACC) at the Banner Gateway Medical Campus in Gilbert, AZ.

Position will include surgical first assisting, inpatient, and outpatient care, Thoracic or additional surgical experience preferred, new graduate candidates with strong backgrounds will be considered.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00 p.m.
